A phone should be a tool for living, not a distraction from it.
Our smartphones are powerful tools that are capable of connecting us across the world, yet often pulling us away from the people right in front of us. They help us stay productive, but just as easily become our greatest source of distraction.
As two college students who grew up with smartphones, we noticed a pattern: even with the best intentions, distraction usually won. Whether we were studying, working, or sharing a meal with family, our attention was constantly under siege.
We tried going without our phones entirely, But we quickly realized how essential smartphones have become—to get directions, take notes, pay a friend, or capture a moment. The convenience was too valuable to give up.
So we built Ground, a simple, physical way to stay connected to what matters. With Ground, you choose which tools you want with you, then block the rest until you're ready to return. No temptation. No endless scrolling. Just space to focus, think, and be present.
We use Ground to listen to podcasts on a walk, send a quick payment, or jot down ideas, without the pull of social media or endless notifications. We hope it helps you find more calm and clarity, too.
If you have thoughts, ideas, or feedback, we’d love to hear from you:

We're learning as we go, so thanks for being part of the journey.
